Alison Kung, Head of Ancestry at 23andMe:
"As more people turn to DNA kits and testing, it has become
apparent that underrepresented populations are still being glanced
over. To help combat this, 23andMe is announcing several major
updates this month - including a more granular breakdown of
underrepresented populations (especially in South Asia, Western
Asia, Central Asia, and North Africa) and an updated region count
from 1000+ to 1500+ regions."
"Additionally, they are unveiling the 23andMe Family Tree. Despite high awareness and interest in family trees, very few people actually take the time to play an active role in developing their own tree - the 23andMe Family Tree leverages a newly created algorithm to auto-populate a family tree for consumers."
